This policy explains what The Biz Mom (“this site”, “we”) collects when you visit thebizmom.com, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version
- You can read this site without giving us your name or email address.
- The site carries advertising, and advertising partners set cookies and similar technologies in your browser to measure and personalise those ads.
- You can refuse or withdraw consent to personalised advertising at any time, and in some regions you will be asked before any such cookie is set.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Information you give us
Email. If you write to [email protected], we hold your message and address for as long as needed to deal with it. It is not added to any mailing list.
Comments. If comments are open and you leave one, we store the name, email address and comment you submit, together with your IP address and browser user agent, to display the comment and to detect spam. Spam filtering is performed locally on this site.
Newsletter. If a newsletter sign-up is offered and you use it, your email address is stored by our email provider for the purpose of sending that newsletter. Every email contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you.
Information collected automatically
Server logs. Our web server records the usual technical information — IP address, date and time, page requested, referring page, browser and device type. This is used for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
Analytics. We use analytics to understand which articles are read and how people arrive, in aggregate. We do not use analytics to identify individual readers.
Advertising. This is the part most people care about, so here it is plainly. Third-party advertising partners, which may include Google and its advertising partners, and advertising technology providers such as Ezoic, may set and read cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies when you view a page. These are used to select ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance and detect fraud. Some of this involves processing data about the pages you visit in order to show more relevant ads. Embedded content. Articles may embed content from other sites, such as video players. Those sites can collect data about you, set their own cookies and track your interaction with that content exactly as if you had visited them directly.
Your choices and your rights
Consent. Where the law requires it — including the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland — you will be asked for consent before non-essential cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw that consent at any time through the privacy or consent control on this site.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority.
If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Personalised advertising may nonetheless count as “sharing” under that law, and opting out of personalised ads through the control on this site opts you out of it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Browser controls. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can turn off ad personalisation in your Google account at adssettings.google.com. Blocking cookies does not stop ads appearing; it makes them less relevant.

Children
This site is written for adults running a household. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, write to us and it will be deleted.
How long we keep things
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so that follow-up replies make sense. Email correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful and then deleted. Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes. Data held by advertising and analytics partners is governed by their own retention policies.
Security and transfers
This site is served over an encrypted connection. No website can promise perfect security, but access to the site’s systems is restricted and protected. Our service providers, including hosting, email and advertising partners, may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States, under the safeguards their own agreements provide.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date below will change and the revision will be posted here.
