The short version: some links on this site earn a commission, it costs you nothing, and it never changes what an article says.
What an affiliate link is
Some links to products or services are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to buy something, the retailer pays this site a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be otherwise — the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.
This is disclosed because it is the honest thing to do, and because the United States Federal Trade Commission requires it. Readers elsewhere are covered by similar rules, and they all point the same way: you are entitled to know when a link earns money.
Programmes this site takes part in
The Biz Mom takes part in affiliate programmes including the Amazon Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, this site earns from qualifying purchases. Other retailer and service programmes may be used from time to time.
What a commission does not buy
- It does not buy a recommendation. Products are chosen because they are worth writing about, not because of what they pay.
- It does not change a verdict. Where an article concludes that something is not worth buying, it says so — including when the link that would have earned a commission sits in the same article.
- It does not decide the order. Nothing is ranked higher because it pays more.
- It is not a paid review. No company has paid for a positive write-up on this site, and none will. See the Editorial Policy.
Advertising
This site also carries display advertising, which is what keeps the articles free to read. Those ads are served by third-party advertising partners and are not chosen or endorsed by The Biz Mom. Prices change
Any price mentioned was correct when it was checked and may well be different by the time you read it. Always confirm the current price on the retailer’s own page before buying. If you spot a price here that has gone stale, tell me and I will update it.
